"The Quilt"

As I faced my Maker at the last Judgement, I knelt before the Lord along with the other souls. Before each of us laid our lives, like the squares of a quilt, in many piles. An Angel sat before each of us sewing our quilt squares together into a tapestry that is our life. But, as my Angel took each piece of cloth off the pile, I noticed how ragged and empty each of my squares was. They were filled with giant holes. Each square was labeled with a part of my life that had been difficult, the challenges and temptations I was faced with in everyday life. I saw hardships that I had endured, which were the largest holes of all. I glanced around me. Nobody else had such squares. Other than a tiny hole here and there, the other tapestries were filled with rich color and the bright hues of worldly fortune. I gazed upon my own life and was disheartened. My Angel was sewing the ragged pieces of cloth together, threadbare and empty, like binding air. Finally the time came when each life was to be displayed, held up to the light, the scrutiny of truth. The others rose, each in turn, holding up their tapestries. So filled their lives had been. My Angel looked upon me, and nodded for me to rise. My gaze dropped to the ground in shame. I hadn't had all the earthly fortunes. I had love in my life, and laughter. But there had also been trials of illness and death, and false accusations that took from me my world as I knew it. I had to start over many times. I often struggled with the temptation to quit, only to somehow muster the strength to pick up and begin again. I had spent many nights on my knees in prayer, asking for help and guidance in my life. I had often been held up to ridicule, which I endured painfully; each time offering it up to the Father in hopes that I would not melt within my skin beneath the judgmental gaze of those who unfairly judged me. And now, I had to face the truth. My life was what it was, and I had to accept it for what it had been. I rose and slowly lifted the combined squares of my life to the light. An awe-filled gasp filled the air. I gazed around at the others who stared at me with eyes wide. Then, I looked upon the tapestry before me. Light flooded the many holes, creating an image. The face of Christ. Then our Lord stood before me, with warmth and love in His eyes. He said, "Every time you gave over your life to Me, it became My life, My hardships, and My struggles. Each point of light in your life is when you stepped aside and let Me shine through, until there was more of Me than there was of you." May all our quilts be threadbare and worn, allowing Christ to shine through.

Leather bound Bible

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car.
Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study.
His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bounded Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold.
Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible? And stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.
Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day.
Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages.
His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt. 7:11, "And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?" As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words....... PAID IN FULL!

How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected?
Do not spoil what you have, by desiring what you have not, but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for..................

So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the Fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. Against such things there is no Law.

There are several blogs that I follow weekly and Michelle's blog is one of them. She did a post Saturday that has me blown out of the water. I was so shocked when I read this. I tell you I have failed as a parent. We are suppose to protect our children, raise them with good morals, and standards. And we as Christian Parents should protect them from the enemy also. I let my kids listen to this music, watch the videos and learn the dance. Heck they taught me the dance to it. There are always meanings behind the words of a song. We should really be researching the lyrics. Here is a link to that post, I really encourage you to read it and go to the links about the lyrics. Look at what we have been dealing with the last 2 days. Boy am I tired.

Authorities in Jasper County have now caught three of five burglary suspects who broke into a pharmacy in Jasper and tried to break into a pharmacy in Kirbyville. They're still looking for two men, including Quincy Brooks. Police say a burglar alarm went off at around 11 o'clock Tuesday night at Gee Shipman Pharmacy on West Lamar Street in Jasper. Officers responded to a burglary alarm, but the men were gone by the time they arrived. At about 11:30 p.m. a Kirbyville police officer noticed a suspicious car near a pharmacy and began following it. The men drove away and the officer chased them. The men jumped out of the car and ran away. One suspect was arrested near MLK Street. Two more were caught on Highway 96 near Buna, trying to get a ride out of the area. Officers are looking for the two other men. They believe one is armed with a shotgun. Kirbyville ISD superintendent Dr. Joe Burns tells KFDM News the elementary, middle and high schools were plaed under lockdown, meaning doors were locked, students weren't allowed outside and anyone who wanted to come inside had to show an I.D. The elementary, middle and high schools in Buna were also under lockdown, as were Jasper ISD buildings and Evadale schools. Stay with KFDM news and kfdm.com for the latest on the search.

Suspect Caught in Deadly Southeast Texas Shooting Rampage

Shooting suspect, 42-year-old Perry Anthony Stevenson was captured Tuesday near Call, located in Newton County. Stevenson has been arraigned in Newton on a charge of aggravated robbery. Murder charges are expected to be added on Wednesday. Bond has been set at $500,000.
Authorities began looking for Stevenson on Monday after they say he went on a shooting rampage that spanned two counties. It began when Stevenson allegedly killed a woman in Orange, set fire to the house, then stole a car from a nearby home. That victim has been identified as 52-year-old Mirian McElroy, who'd been living with Stevenson. Department of Public Safety officials say Stevenson apparently then traveled to near Kirbyville, tried to break into another home where he exchanged gunfire with the occupants.
Police say Stevenson then drove to a home near Call, broke into the house, and shot three children and their mother. Sheriff's authorities identify the two sisters who were killed as 14-year-old April Pearson, and 10-year-old Ashley Pearson. Their mother, Gwen Pearson, is hospitalized in critical condition. Her 5-year-old daughter, Kaitlyn, is hospitalized in good condition.
Officials are now trying to determine what sparked Monday's shooting spree. Officials do say Stevenson has a history of mental illness.

After finding alcohol in her son's car, she decided to sell the car and share her 19-year-old's misdeed with everyone — by placing an ad in the local newspaper.

The ad reads: "OLDS 1999 Intrigue. Totally uncool parents who obviously don't love teenage son, selling his car. Only driven for three weeks before snoopy mom who needs to get a life found booze under front seat. $3,700/offer.
Call meanest mom on the planet."

And if you are wondering she did sell the car, and had received numberous amounts of phone calls giving her a "Way to go Mom!".
